What does Invisalign use to straighten teeth?
Invisalign in Tunbridge Wells straightens your teeth using clear, thermoplastic aligners which are BPA free and designed to be almost invisible when worn in your mouth. Each aligner is individually designed and manufactured to fit your teeth with accuracy and precision so they are also comfortable to wear.
I have a crown, is Invisalign still an option for me?
To make sure that Invisalign in Tunbridge Wells is suitable for you our dentist will carry out a thorough assessment of your teeth and gums before proceeding with the process, however it has proven to be safe and suitable for those who have crowns, veneers and other dental treatments or repairs.
How long do I have to wear the aligners?
The duration of the treatment will depend on how crooked your teeth are to begin with. Some patients require as little as three months to see an improvement in the alignment of their teeth. Other patients with more complicated orthodontic issues may take 6 to 12 months to achieve the results that they are looking for. Some patients require up to 18 months to correct the alignment of their teeth.
The aligners work as a series and each of the aligners needs to be worn for approximately 2 weeks before you move on to the next aligner. Each day you need to wear your aligners for approximately 22 hours. Compliance is essential for successful results.
Can I brush and floss my teeth during the treatment?
You need to take the aligners out of your mouth at mealtimes and for cleaning your teeth. This allows you to brush your teeth and floss properly, helping you maintain your daily hygiene routine as normal.
What’s the best way to clean my aligners?
When you take your aligners out at mealtimes you can soak them in a cleaning solution to remove any bacteria that may be lingering on the surface of them. You can also brush your aligners with an ordinary toothbrush and rinse them with lukewarm water.
Will I need to wear a retainer after treatment?
It is important to wear a retainer following orthodontic treatment. Many patients who have undergone orthodontic treatment when they were younger find that their teeth become crooked as an adult. Speak to us at Woodbury Park Dental to find out about wearing a retainer following your treatment with Invisalign in Tunbridge Wells. A retainer will help you maintain the newly achieved alignment of your smile, so that you can enjoy a neatly even, symmetrical, beautiful smile for the rest of your life.
